Release of 2023 National Senior Certificate Examination Results

The 2023 National Senior Certificate examinations will conclude on 6 December 2023, and the Minister of Basic Education, Mrs. Angie Motshekga, will announce the outcome of the examinations on 18 January 2024. The results will be released to candidates on 19 January 2024. Some results may not be available because of technical issues.

  • Applicants are urged to get their statements of results from their school or center where they wrote the exams. Applicants’ results will also be available on this website starting at 6 am on 19 January 2024.
  • Result queries should be submitted for investigation within 30 days after the release of results.
  • Applicants must ensure that names and identity numbers reflect correctly on their statement of results and report any required corrections to the Department before February 21 February 2024.

How to Check Your Matric Results Online – Step By Step

RE-MARK/RE-CHECK OF EXAM SCRIPT

Candidates may submit an application for a remark or recheck of their exam scripts at the specified cost. Registration can be completed online at www.eservices.gov.za or in person at the province’s district office or school (all instructions appear on the reverse side of the Statement of Results).

Applications must be submitted by February 2, 2024, for both manual applications and online applications

Fees for re-marking and re-checking per subject:

Re-mark : R120.00

Re-check : R29.00

Viewing of scripts is only possible following a remark or recheck of the outcomes. Seven days following the announcement of the re-mark or re-check results is when applications must be submitted. The viewing charge is R234,000.00.

The school or testing center where the candidate took their 2023 exams will have the results of the marking available starting on March 15, 2024.

JUNE NSC EXAMS

The February/March supplemental exam is no longer available as it has been phased out. In May and June, there is a new exam accessible for students to finish outstanding results or improve their scores on. The application deadline for 2024 is February 8, 2024.

Conditions for entry

  • Applicants can only register for subjects that they were registered for in any previous November examination.
  • Candidates with valid external paper marks (PAT, oral, and SBA) who missed one or more external question papers due to a physical condition, a death in their immediate family, or other extraordinary reasons may register for the NSC June test.
  • Any NSC candidate (who wrote exams from 2008 November onwards) who wants to improve their overall achievement status or only wants to improve the achievement of a subject may register for the NSC June examination.
  • In the case where a candidate was absent for one or more papers in the November exam with a valid reason, the candidate has to write all the papers for the registered subject(s).
  • In a case where an irregularity is being investigated, provisional enrolment for NSC June examination may be granted to the candidate concerned, pending the outcome of the investigation.
  • Candidates who did not write or complete one or more of the NSC November examination question papers for reasons other than illness, injury, or death in the family may also apply to write the NSC June examination, provided they have valid external paper marks (PAT, oral, and SBA).

What can I do if I do not qualify to write the June NSC examination?

Applicants who do not qualify to write the June NSC examination have the following options:

  • Re-enroll for the NSC as a full-time repeater candidate at a school without delay, provided that the candidate is younger than 21 years of age. Candidates need to enroll in seven subjects (including life orientation) and have to comply with all SBA requirements.
  • Register as a part-time repeater applicant at a public adult education center.
  • Register for the Senior Certificate (SC) examination, which is a school leaving qualification for adults and out-of-school learners who are over 21 years of age.
  • Alternatively, candidates who were not successful in their examinations could nregard vocational education and training. There are 50 public further education and training (FET) colleges across all provinces of South Africa, comprising over 300 campuses or teaching sites.
