Minimum Requirements for TMPD Trainees
Before applying, ensure you meet all the following criteria:
1. Educational Qualification
- Grade 12 (Matric) certificate – Must submit verified proof.
2. Driving Licence
- Valid manual driver’s licence – Must pass a TMPD driving test.
3. Age Limit
- Must be between 18–35 years old.
4. Citizenship & Residency
- South African citizen
- Resident of Tshwane Metro (attach proof of address)
- If your ID and proof of address surnames differ, include an affidavit.
5. Criminal Record Check
- No criminal record or pending cases
- Must pass fingerprint verification (cost covered by the applicant)
6. Firearm Competency
- Must be legally allowed to possess a firearm (no restrictions under the Firearms Control Act, Act 60 of 2000).
7. Medical & Physical Fitness
- Must be medically and physically fit (submit a medical certificate).
- Must pass a psychometric test and English proficiency test.
8. Appearance Standards
- No visible tattoos while in uniform.
9. Code of Conduct
- Must be willing to sign and adhere to the TMPD Code of Conduct.

Core Responsibilities of a Metro Police Trainee
Once trained, you will be responsible for:
