Important Information About the Funza Lushaka Bursary for 2024

  • Eligibility Check: If you have a criminal record, misconduct charges, or have been dismissed from work, you cannot apply.
  • Family Affiliation: Bursaries are not available for Higher Education Institution employees, their spouses, or dependents.
  • Complete Online Application: You must be 30 years old or younger and complete the online application. No hard copies will be accepted.
  • Teaching Qualification: If you already have a teaching qualification, you are not eligible for this bursary

Programs Covered

  • Undergraduate: Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) specializing in Foundation, Intermediate, or Senior and Further Education and Training Teaching.
  • Graduate: Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) for graduates with priority subjects.

Selection Criteria

  • South African citizens with good academic ability are eligible.
  • Commitment to a teaching career and readiness to face challenges are essential.
  • Must be willing to teach in any school assigned by the Provincial Education Department.

NOTE: All first time applicants must be 30 years or younger to apply for Funza Lushaka Bursary.

Minimum Academic Criteria for 2024

  • Matric/Grade 12 pass with specified subject levels.
  • Minimum average pass percentages for current university students.

 

Procedure:

  1. Open the e-Gov portal at www.eservices.gov.za and Register by providing personal information
  2. Login to the system using user name and password created when registering and On the e-Services menu, select Funza Lushaka Bursary Scheme
  3. Enter the OTP received on the preferred channel and Accept the Terms and Conditions
  4. On the dashboard menu, click on the 2024 application button and Follow the steps to complete the required field with your information
  5. Accept the declaration to confirm the information captured
  6. Apply online only after acceptance/provisional acceptance at your university and Ensure accuracy in capturing information and choosing priority subjects
  7. Keep an eye on the closing date; late applications won’t be considered.
