Heineken Beverages in Gqeberha is offering a 14-month Food & Beverages Packaging Operations Learnership to unemployed individuals interested in gaining practical skills in a high-speed manufacturing environment. This program aims to equip learners with essential competencies for operating automated food and beverage packaging lines, including machine operations, quality control, and basic maintenance. Successful candidates will gain practical exposure to processes like washing, filling, sealing, labeling, palletizing, and depalletizing, while also developing critical problem-solving and communication skills

Applications are invited to apply for the 14-month Food & Beverages Packaging Operations Learnership based at Heineken Beverages Gqeberha Manufacturing. Acquiring this qualification will enable an individual to perform basic operations on an automated food & beverage packaging line within the set requirements of a manufacturing unit. 

The Learnership entails the following outcomes: 

  • Demonstrating an understanding of basic machine operations in a manufacturing and/or packaging environment and monitoring critical control points (CCP’s) as an integral part of the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) system. 
  • Performing quality control practices in a food or sensitive consumer product operation and competence in 3 x Machine Workplace Observations as part of the Learnership on an automated food & beverage packaging line includes (to be decided based on operational requirements): 
  • Washing, Filling, Sealing, Labelling, Palletizing, and Depalletizing 
  • Performing first-line maintenance and applying problem-solving techniques. 
  • Demonstrating effective communication skills and the ability to interpret and use information, as well as demonstrating mathematical abilities 
  • Learners will be required to attend classes and successfully complete assessments (minimum pass rate of 70% per subject) as part of the programme. 

 

The Minimum Requirements

  • Unemployed at the time of application and must have passed Grade 12 with Mathematics (NOT Maths Literacy) and English as subjects. 
  • Relevant experience within a production/high-speed packaging environment would be advantageous, and an Understanding of safe working procedures. 
  • Proven verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Ability to function independently and under pressure, as well as the ability to cope with the inherent physical demands of the Learnership. 
  • Must be willing and able to work shifts and overtime as part of workplace training when required and adhere to the Heineken Beverages Code of Business Conduct while employed by Heineken Beverages. 
  • Successful applicants will be offered a fixed-term contract.
