About the Role
The Intermediate Life Support (ILS) Paramedic will be responsible for providing high-quality emergency medical care while ensuring efficient service delivery, operational excellence, and exceptional patient experiences.
The successful candidate will respond to emergency incidents, administer Intermediate Life Support treatment according to HPCSA guidelines, maintain emergency vehicles and medical equipment, complete accurate documentation, and contribute to the overall effectiveness of Netcare 911 operations.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver Professional Emergency Medical Care
- Respond rapidly to emergency and non-emergency incidents and Assess, stabilise, and treat patients within the approved Intermediate Life Support scope of practice, Follow all Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) treatment protocols and regulations.
- Request advanced medical support whenever a patient’s condition exceeds your professional scope make sure safe and effective patient handovers to hospital staff.
- Keep patients and their families informed with professionalism, empathy, and compassion and Protect patient confidentiality at all times.
Administration and Reporting
- Complete Electronic Patient Report Forms (EPRFs) accurately for every patient attended and make sure all operational and legal documentation is completed correctly.
- Maintain hospital admission records according to hospital requirements.
- Record overtime, leave, and other administrative documentation as required.
- Log every emergency call with the Netcare 911 Call Centre and ensure the allocated case number appears on all patient documentation.
- Perform additional duties assigned by the Operations Manager when required.
Quality Assurance
- Deliver patient care that consistently meets Netcare’s quality standards, Participate in Continuing Medical Education (CME) programmes.
- Stay informed about updates to HPCSA treatment protocols and Maintain professional competence through continuous learning and development.help in community healthcare initiatives when required.
- Follow all company policies, procedures, and operational guidelines.
Vehicle and Equipment Management
- Conduct comprehensive inspections of emergency vehicles and equipment before every shift and Ensure ambulances remain clean, fully stocked, and operational.
- Maintain medical equipment according to manufacturer specifications, Report damaged, missing, or stolen equipment immediately.
- Maintain accurate records of medication and controlled drugs and Help ensure medical supplies are replenished after every emergency call.
Health and Safety
- Comply fully with occupational health and safety legislation and Report workplace injuries immediately.

Essential Qualifications

Key Responsibilities
